Noah P. Sprague letter : Buffalo, to Eben Carleton, Bath, New Hampshire, 1837 Feb. 10.

Letter from Sprague to Carleton states that there is an opportunity for Orville to come to Buffalo and engage in the forwarding business or, if Orville is not interested, asks that Carleton mention is to Cargill, Smith, or Love. Includes letter from Sprague's wife Abiah to her mother, discussing her brother Edwin, Sprague Elkins, and her son Carleton, and expressing the wish that her family would visit soon.

Born in Haverhill, N.H.; son of Alden Sprague. He married Abiah Carleton at Bath, N.H. in 1821. They moved to Buffalo in 1825. He engaged in mercantile activities, was elected Erie County clerk in 1831 on the Anti-Masonic ticket, and again in 1840, on the Whig ticket. Their son, E.
